Hi All!

I would like to offer my humble apologies and hereby stand corrected.
A shall go and find a pointed paper hat and stand in the corner.

Yesterday I claimed in a reply to Alex Philippov that MI Pro did not read
GeoTiff files.
This was false. Bill Wemple from MI has kindly corrected me and provided a
couple of sample files which proves that MI indeed is capable of reading
and directly using georeference information in properly formatted GeoTiff
files.
Apparently, this has been so ever since v7 and before that there was an
mbx to help.
My statement was based on personal experience, but I have probably tested
with geotiffs of a non standard projection, or some other kind that MI did
not recognize. New tests today on later files proves to me that MI makes
perfect use of GeoTiff information.

However, all this was prompted by a problem experienced by the orignal
asker Alex Philippov who had provided some sample files.
And MapInfo has a problem with these. Only one can be properly displayed
in MI but is not recognized as a geotiff, two of them turn up as black
rectangles (but georeferenced) and one is displayed in a skewed way.
But the problem seems to be in the tiff formats, as I indicated yesterday,
and not in the way MapInfo handles GeoTiff information.

Hälsning / Best regards Mats.E
