Hi there, Thanks for everyone's help. Uffe was able to provide a solution...
open the DAT file in UltraEdit and look where the first and last record starts. Based on the size of the records (117 bytes), I can calculate the number of records in each file. And that is the information missing from the file headers, so I enter it in hexadecimal numbers also using UltraEdit. -----Original Message----- From: Scott Daugherty [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, August 22, 2005 9:54 AM To: Cameron McGregor; mapinfo-l@lists.directionsmag.com Subject: RE: MI-L View DAT file I believe you can change a copy of the dat files extention to dbf and import the dbf into MI. -----Original Message----- From: Cameron McGregor [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, August 22, 2005 5:51 AM To: mapinfo-l@lists.directionsmag.com Subject: MI-L View DAT file Hi there, After a power outage and therefore a computer restart, a long process that was creating a TAB file stopped. I can see that the DAT file has been populated since it is about 60mb, however when I open the TAB file it shows nothing. I am only interested in the results that are in the DAT file however I can't seem to view the records. When I open it in notepad I can see the results however they are garbled and unusable. Is there anyway I can view a DAT file??
