In my department, we are implementing a Standard Operating Environment (SOE) under which software is installed via a Novel Application Launcher (NAL) object.
The preferred method is to wrap the msi inside a NAL object. But we are having problems with mapinfo 8.0. We are using the client-server model described in the installation manual. There is no problem installing the server software, but there is a problem with the client software. Our desktop OS is windows XP. The user is logged on as a power user. The NAL object runs with system level privilages. Apparantly, one of the first things the msi does is check if it is running as adminstrator. This is different to most other software, which is content to run under administrator or higher (includes system). But the mapinfo installer runs under administrator only. Is there anyone else who has had experience with this?
