I think the jet engine is part of the MDAC installation, so maybe you should
try installing the latest version of MDAC ?

actually i don't think it's an MI issue, it sounds like you need the jet
DLL's reinstalled. sorry i can't recall the exact stuff right now it's been
a while, but get one of your resident nerds to make sure the latest patches
for Jet and stuff are applied to Office.

Subject: MI-L MapInfo 8.0 doesn't open Access files

Hello,

We just upgraded MapInfo 6.0 to version 8.0 on a XP computer. The new
MapInfo 8.0 refuses to open ANY Access files that we could open before. It
gives the following error message:

The Microsoft Jet Engine is not available for error information

It can not also save a regular .tab file to an Access .mdb file. All the
files we tested open with no problem in Access. The same files open fine in
2 other computers that have MapInfo 8.0 and XP.

We have tried the usual trouble shooting to fix the problem to no avail.
Checked to see if there were any .ldb file left to prevent opening the .mdb
file, installed the most current patch for version 8, uninstalled and
re-installed MapInfo 8.0 (patch included), uninstalled and re-installed
Access.

I am fresh out of ideas, any suggestions?
