Thanks for the feedback Peter, I'll try your suggestion. As for the "full
screen cursor". Is this similar to the cursor used when I connect my
digitizing tablet? When I use it, I get this full screen cross hair you
mention. Is there any way to fool Mapinfo into thinking a digitizing tablet
is connected to it?

Dave

David,

The newer versions of MapInfo supports a full screen cursor. This cursor can
be turned on by hitting the c-key on your keyboard. Just like swithing on
snap with the s-key.

Is this better ?

If not you should be able to add an extra line to the MapInfow.mnu pointing
to your own cursor in another dll file (placed the dll in the MapInfo
program folder.

MapInfow.mnu:
...
Create ButtonPad "Drawing" ID 2 As
  ToolButton
    Icon 16
    Calling 1711
HelpMsg "Place a symbol (point) on an editable map or active
layout.\nSymbol"
  ToolButton
    Icon 17
    Calling 1712
HelpMsg "Draw a line in an editable map or active layout layer.\nLine"
  ToolButton
    Icon 18
         Cursor 1 "MyOwn.dll"
    Calling 1713
HelpMsg "Draw a polyline in an editable map or active layout
layer.\nPolyline"
...

I must admit that I haven't tried to change the cursor of a standard MapInfo
tool in this way, but I guess it should work. Let me know

Subject: MI-L Change Crosshair digitizing MI 6.5

Greetings all,

I seem to recall this being discussed before but I couldn't find anything
about it in the list archives. This is nothing new, digiziting over
grayscale digital orthos and you loose the digitizing crosshair!

Well, not necessarily loose it but after a while it becomes very annoying
and creates eyestrain, everybody understands that... Has anyone found a way
to change the crosshair to a more visible object?

Changing pointers in mouse properties doesn't seem to change anything,
Mapinfo Preferences doesn't seem to allow changing this. I'm hoping maybe
through Mapbasic or something???

Thanks,
David Reid
