Thanks Peter,

I was using Update Column, but only using Area() and thought the calculation
type was reflected by the Map Options setting. Obviously I need to inlcude the
specification in the update query. Thanks again

Christine

Christine,

You say that you are calculating the area of some boundaries. How exactly are
you doing this ?
If you use Update Column, you should specify which type of area calculation you
want by using either CartesianArea() or SpericalArea() in stead of Area().

Subject: [MI-L] Area Calculations

Hi all,

I'm calculating the area of some boundaries, and have noticed that when I
change the Map > Options > Distance/Area using: from Spherical to Cartesian the
area calculation is the same. Shouldn't it be different and does anyone know
how to change this setting so it reflects the different measurement techniques?
 Thanks,

Christine
