Title: Message
Hi,

Which version of MapInfo are you using. MapInfo actual fixed a problem similar to this in a patch for MapInfo 7.8

This is from the Release Notes:
******************************************************************
Resolved: Unable to Update Table Error.
In the last three versions of MapInfo Professional, when you performed a complicated editing
operation in the Map, tried to undo a deletion or erasure, and then save the result, the
following error message displayed:

Unable to update table "<table name>". Operation canceled.

and map changes were lost. We have updated MapInfo Professional to correct this by adding
a new Undo structure that saves the previous Undo status. To see this change, go into a map
and create some new regions, change their shape and delete some interior areas.
Then undo the deletion and save the result. The undo should execute without incident.

Subject: Re: [MI-L] Unable to Update table - unknown error encountered.

Thank you for all the advice.

As a result of the information, the problem has been solved by increasing the frequency of packing the table being edited (it was a largish file).

Seems as the table was becoming unstable with all the edit work being performed on it without packing. In the long run the save function was less able to cope without dropping data.
