I would try bringing the file in, UTM NAD83 with the correct zone for where the shape is supposed to be. Sounds like it is not in LAT, LON.

When I try using the tool, it asks me to set the projection.(in this case it is Longitude/Latitude NAD 83). When the shape is imported, it is never in the correct location. (Always in the middle of nowhere!!!) Does anyone have this problem or am I doing something completely wrong.
