I was faced with a table of multi-section plines, each one representing a contour line; the gaps were originally used by text objects showing the altitude. The idea was to make single section plines by filling the gaps with line segments.
Merge_Sections answers that straight forward situation, by filling the gaps in order of size until one section is left.
It is useless or even dangerous if the polylines are not topologically sane (no overlap of sections, no T branching, spike, …)
