One of the least biased reviews of desktop gis I've read was in civic.com
magazine. It covers older versions, but is still relevant today, I think.

I've not read any complete reviews of GeoMedia 2.0, but I have experimented
with it. I was in on the beta. I love the interface - very user friendly,
but requires a good bit of forethought in setting up warehouses. Positives
include the wizards, the ability to read other data formats without
translation, outstanding digitizing capabilities (full range of snaps, cogo,
mirrors, rotations, arrays, etc.), far, far superior layout functions and
fully integrated database and graphics via MS Access or Oracle. Negatives,
lack of geocoding and a few other basic features, lack of add-ons, poor
support, lack of user knowledge base, lack of 3rd party developers, and BUGS
- LOTS OF THEM. Still has problems reading MI and AV files, and even chokes
on MGE projects. Chugs right along with ArcInfo coverages, though. Might
someday be cool product but still not quite ready for release in my opinion.
Given Intergraph's recent financial and management troubles, I'd be wary of
it for at least a couple more versions. If you're the bold go-your-own-way
type, cost is higher than competition, but remember it comes packaged
together with Imagineer Technical 2D drawing software which is comparable to
AutoCAD LT - a $400 value.

Hope this helps.
