Hello:
I have two identical mapnik installs, one on a Power PC G5 Mac
(2006) and one install on a Intel MacBook. On each installation I am
running Ubuntu Partition (I tried many times to install on OS X
Leopard, but failed - maybe next time with MacPorts).
Could you email me about generally what when wrong on leopard? It been
a long time since I updated/cleanup up some of the install guides for
mac os x and I hope to do so soon. Your feedback would be useful.
Anyway, on both machines, I imported a section (the State of Ohio)
of OSM into postgreql/postgis. For the MacBook, I have been able to
render normal tiles and images at all zoom levels.
Great!
BTW, I use Virtual Box to run Linux inside mac osx - you might check
it out since I does not require partitioning...
For the older G5 machine, I get mysterious pink tiles, and when I
render an image, I get a map with the roads, highways ect. but the
map has a pink hue to it. I am baffled. The only difference with the
installs is that I downloaded and installed Imagemajik later in the
process. I installed it after I got a "conversion" error. I have
checked the libraries, the folder structure for the OSM Mapnik and
the world_boundaries folder. Each are the same. Have you heard of
the before? I did many hours of research, but the only thing that I
came up with that maybe something with the layers was in error. If
no ideas, could you point me in a direction? Thanks so much. Have a
look here for what I mean http://sites.google.com/site/jmjira/
Fascinating. I've not seen this before, but I admit that I have never
installed/tested mapnik on a G5. My hunch would be that this is a
Mapnik/PPC bug rather than an installation problem.
Joseph, could you create a trac ticket describing your Mapnik version,
boost version, and other installation details and providing a link to
those images on your site?
Also, are you rendering via the ogcserver? Or, how are you rendering
the tiles?
