Hi, Because I do not know anything about asc files nor paletted colours this may go all wrong, but I'll have a try.
-expand option is for 1 band images having a colour table. Check if your image has such (or if gdal recognises it) with gdalinfo. One way to make a 3-band image out of 1-band image is to pick the only band three times with gdal_translate -b 1 -b 1 -b 1 1-band.tif 3-band.tif. Result will have three channels, but it will look like a greyscale. By the way, creation option for tiled tiffs is TILED=YES. -Jukka Rahkonen- Chris Emberson wrote: I am having trouble converting a single band raster (.asc) when using the GDAL utility gdal_translate (version 1.6) This is the command... gdal_translate -of GTiff -co "TILES=YES" -expand rgb FILEA.asc FILEB.tif This is the error.... band 1 is not defined... In order to tile a raster using Mapnik it needs to be a 3 band tiff - Is there a solution / workaround to this problem? Thanks in advance Chris _________________________________________________________________ Access your other email accounts and manage all your email from one place. http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/167688463/direct/01/ _______________________________________________ Mapnik-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.berlios.de/mailman/listinfo/mapnik-users
