I have been having fun playing with Mapnik. Now I want to do something useful, and need a little guidance.
I have my own database with the UK extract loaded. Periodically, I will update this with new extracts, as required. Then I want to be able to render a map with some of my own data overlaid, a bit like a cake diagram used for mapping parties. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/images/thumb/9/93/Camberwell_cake.png/260px-Camberwell_cake.png The data does not represent anything that would benefit being uploaded to the main database, but is of use to me. What is the best format for creating such data? What tools would I use? my guess would be that JOSM would be useful. Are there any pointers to how I then use Mapnik to combine the two data sources to create a final map image?
