You are correct. mapnik was pointing to gdal 1.6.0 instead of gdal 1.7.2
fixing that link causes this error to stop.

However, I am still unable to process the ogr input in mapnik:

> ogr2ogr -f "ESRI Shapefile" plots.shp plots.ovf

>>> import mapnik
>>> ds_ogr = mapnik.Ogr(file='plots.ovf', layer='plots')
>>> ds_shp = mapnik.Ogr(file='plots.shp', layer='plots')
>>> len(ds_ogr.all_features())
0
>>> len(ds_shp.all_features())
5319

Thanks for the responsiveness and the help, guys. I appreciate it.

David
