I've read the ScaleAndPpi wiki page[1] and all other resources I was able to find, but I still don't understand how to adjust the scale of the rendered map so that it looks good for printing. When I blow up the image size of the ~4x4 degree box to 2000x2000 pixels all lines become way too fine. The only thing I could find was ticket 695[2], but it suggests that Mapnik doesn't support this yet which I hope isn't true.
