The test failure seems to be related to YARN-1041. However, AM container is 
supposed to be not null here, because the current is already up to contact 
ApplicationMasterService.

The problem may be within the test case itself. Some simplification or 
abstraction makes the current attempt doesn't have an associated container 
before getting registered with ApplicationMasterService.
