1. All checkstyle errors (except for the unused import) pertain to lines that
were not modified by this patch.
2. All of the whitespace errors pertain to lines that were not modified by this
patch.
3. It seems like the unit test run was in a bad state as well. There were a
bunch of address already in use exceptions on unrelated tests and
ClassDefNotFoundExceptions on shared cache tests that pass locally.
[~kasha] I can fix the unused import issue, but will wait to post new version
until I hear from you (just in case you have other comments about the patch).
