I read online (I think which refers to the mapred.tasktracker.map.tasks.maximum and reduce proprerties)* *: " If you have 1 CPU with 4 cores then setting map to 3 and reduce to 3 would be good (saving 1 core for the daemon). " This claim is correct ? Which are the remarks to do ?
