JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure - Hadoop The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player with a solid understanding of architectural design, software engineering practices and all aspects of software lifecycle. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies as well as leadership qualities Responsibilities: • Participate in the full software development cycle with hands on design-development. • Review and assist in the development of requirements and technical specifications Requirements: • Strong Design/Development skills in Java and related technologies. • Must have in-depth knowledge and hands on experience (min. 2+ years) with distributed computing platforms like Hadoop Map/Reduce, HDFS, HIVE, Pig Latin, and related technologies. • Must be proficient in building applications on top of these platforms as well as doing development within these platforms for enhancements/defect fixing. • Should have good understanding about indexing algorithms, data structures and optimization for the same. • Strong knowledge of object-oriented design and programming • Hands on Design and Development experience in areas like multi- threading, network programming etc • Added advantage: experience with frameworks like Spring/Hibernate, experience in application server environment • Excellent debugging skills. • Hands on experience with RDBMS including design, coding and basic performance optimization. • Development experience on Linux and Windows platform. • Added advantage: experience with agile, XP, & RAD methodologies and business process modeling • Experience with build tools highly desirable. • Experience with Continuous Integration tools (Hudson, Cruise control, Continuum) is a big plus.
