Thanks for the reference to libcurl. I had been recompiling mapserver,
however I was using libcurl from /usr/lib. For what ever reason this
seemed to be the problem. I compiled an older version of curl and put it in
/usr/local/lib, and then recompile mapserver. After that it worked.
Know on to bigger and better problems!
