Actually, SERVICE=WMS is not required for GetMap requests. This is a bug in MapServer that requires it. This was fixed in http://trac.osgeo.org/mapserver/ticket/2737, fixed in 2737, and released in 5.2.1 , according to the ticket. -- Chris > If mapserver will receive request without SERVICE parameter, it will process > it as WFS request.
