[UMN_MAPSERVER-USERS] layer data source

Hi list,
is there any way to specify a different data source for a layer depending on 
the request? 
for instance, can i set the data of a postgis layer to a postgis table for the 
map request 
and to a complex view for the getFeatureInfo request?
or can i set the data of a layer as a procedure in the database?
