I have fooled with this for a hour and cannot get any of this to work. I
know you are busy, but if you have the time, could you spell it out more? I
am not a Maptitude novice, so I think I can make it work eventually.

BTW, I sometimes have trouble renaming selection sets. It gives me an error
in a dialogue box and then won't let me change the name until I close down
the selection set tool box and open it again. Having said that ...

This is what I have done.

1. Made a default selection set by using the floating bar tool that allows
me to point to two Zipcodes and select them both while holding down the
shift key.

2. One has a pop of 34738. The other a pop of 1821.
3. As a test, I want to select out the one from the default selection set
that has the smaller population ZipCode.
4. I go to selection/select by value ...

Now what do I do to select out the small population Zip Code in the default
selection set?

Sorry I am such a dunce, but being able to do this is important.

Thanks for your help

Choose the "subset" option of select by condition while the current
selection is active.
Use Tools-Selection or Selection-Settings to set the current set for a
layer, or for a dataview use the pulldown on the button bar.
