Maptitude - http://research.umbc.edu/~roswell/maptitude.html
Thanks to Larry Manire and Louis So. Your advice was correct. My problem
was fixed by using Distiller. In fact, it works great. I am glad I had a
full version of Acrobat available.
Larry Manire's answer:
Somewhere in the Adobe doc is the caution that graphics intensive output
should be sent to the Acrobat Distiller driver (which creates a postscript
file). Maptitude maps definitely fall into this category and I've never had
luck using the writer driver.
After you print the file to the distiller driver, you must distill it using
the distiller program. You can set it up to watch a folder and do it
automatically once the file appears in the watched folder.
Maptitude maps work great with Acrobat when you do it this way. We have
created thousands of PDFs with no problem.
You can automate the distilling of the postcript files, adding bookmarks and
combining many postscript files into a single PDF by using a "runfile" but
that's another story.
