Reinaldo,

To add another option of workaround to the accent problem you can use comma delimited txt files. The accent and special caracters will be preserved as you open the file in Mapt. Then it can be saved in dbf format without corruption. But I'm with you in asking for a technical solution for the problem.
    Hope it helps.

Maptitude - http://research.umbc.edu/~roswell/maptitude.html

Hi all:

This week there was a lot of wishes and nice tips in the list. Bellow I have re-write one of them (item 13 of my own wish list). Because Peter did not talk about this item, and we are having a lot of troubles with it.

We have found that Portuguese accents and special characters (like
etc. I can provide a list if you wish) are corrupted whenever
exported or imported from Dbase in Mapt. It happens even if the characters are
OK inside the DBF environment (original or MS Access) they will be corrupted at once when opened with Mapt. Please, this is very important, we have been strugling with this, and there are a lot of complaints from Brazilian Mapt users, the only known workaround is to use Access and ODBC instead of DBF to import, and Lotus WK1 to export.

Thanks in advance for your aid. Regards,

Reinaldo
