In an oil painting branded as 'Corruption', dogs of ivy breed are portrayed in suits playing cards in a sleaze-lit den. There is a comical greed on the faces of the canines placing their bets and plotting their own bluffs around a poker roundtable....In Jucar's explanations, the tableaus consist a 'monster image created by the negative space of another picture', hence deriving the exhibition title. The Amalgam Monsters Of Jucar is about the harum scarum organization of our recent and current way of life. The densely-packed scenarios are 'observations of our society' made via a concoction of : (in Raquepo's vernacular) '60s hippy-Disney-graffiti-cartoons-signs and symbols all in one Catholic-Pinoy-baroque-macho-jeepney aesthetic'. Raquepo's charged-up dialectic is an eclectic strategy that releases the restless temperament of a young artist at critical mass. The painting "VALIDATION' is a same-vein unnerving scenario.
