I'd like to push this task in order to start working in things we
mentioned in the BOF. If you think it's worth I can put it in the wiki
(where?) to discuss it.

MISSION
Ease and optimize the involvement of people through the website

TARGETS
- normal users and newbies wanting to know about GNOME
- advanced users wanting to contribute to the project (not only
programmers, other skills too)
- GNOME contributors, offering them a broader vision of the community
and tools to involve friends

OBJECTIVES (first hint of the Path to Enlightment) :)
- More users of free GTK applications running on proprietary desktops
- More GNOME users coming from proprietary desktops and the linux world
- More contributors to the various aspects of the GNOME project
- More sense of community and 'GNOME proud'

STRATEGY
- A common, clear and basic message about "What is GNOME", "What can
GNOME do for/with you" and "Why the GNOME community is a good place for
free software fans".
- Message and artifacts specific to proprietary desktop users: taste
GNOME without installing it through screenshots, artworks, tours, demos,
CDLive and great free GTK applications for proprietary operative systems.
- Look for the more inclusive concept of "contributors" rather than the
more restricted term "developers".
- Make sure programmers understand why GNOME is a great platform and
community to develop software, where the help is needed and how to start
contributing.
- Make sure that all willing contributors but non-programmers understand
as well that there is a place for them and a plenty of exciting things
to do and share.
- Consequent improvements on navigation and contents in gnome.org as a
work-in-progress, based on small and continous steps rather than waiting
for the big milestones.
