Our events calendar can be found both on the website in the "About Us"
section, and, on the wiki. You can find the link in our Marketing
section[1]. The calendar is a Google Calendar and the same information
is the same on both the website and wiki page.

that brings me to the question how ownCloud is working for you. Did you
give it a try? Might it make sense to switch from the Google hosted
calendar to a self-hosted ownCloud solution instead?

Florian

Yes, I did try it, although I may have to re-visit it to confirm my problems with it when compared to Google Calendar.

Here are some of the problems that I found:

* when importing .ics, (events + committee meetings), it does not import the colour picks for the categories and worse, when I choose the "edit category" pencil and then "rescan" it deleted all of my categories! EEEK!!! It would be nice if the "categories" feature were stable and offered category-colour pick so that our users can easily filter the view -- GoogleCal does this exceptionally well and it is intuitive. To me, this is a big problem with the OwnCloud calendar from a "user" usability point of view.

* I was having some re-draw problems when right-clicking on some functions. I am not sure if it was a problem with my box, I did try different browsers and had the same problems. Maybe this has disappeared if there has been an update in the Cloud software since my testing.

Otherwise, the other functions were OK, all the basics of calendaring are covered. IMO, the Google Calendar still offers more in the way of admin functionalities/filters for user ease of filter use, which to me are quite important.

Cheers,

Marc
