I should expand on that last email - so it was only this afternoon that I realized there was a simple way to have both the top level menu and the notebook bar. The last week every time I needed the top menu back I would use the menu system to switch back to the standard toolbar UI. Today, even though I had clicked on it I'm sure at some point last week, it hit home that the button at the top left corner of the notebook bar put the top menu back, with the notebook bar in place - great that is worlds better and my rote use of menu accelerator keys for quick input come back.. so, that is for this piece IMO for sure. I'll try to cut in that and update the file tomorrow.
