I am the creator/maintainer of Fedora Scientific. Python tools and
libraries are actively being used in the scientific community and Fedora
has its own lab product to cater to those in the form of [http://fedora-
scientific.readthedocs.org/en/latest/python_programming.html Fedora
Scientific].
I think this would make a nice point for what you are after.
