Hello Marketing Team,

Some time ago, LCP shared an amazing, vibrant palette of colors for
openSUSE and their use across our distributions. I absolutely love it.
Many thanks, Jay!

You may have already seen the palette in use on kudos.opensuse.org,
the vibrant Geeko Green on a Pump Purple background. It was also
recently showcased by https://github.com/openSUSE/susedialog and its
openSUSE theme on factory@.

At the moment, our landing page, get-o-o, software-o-o, and other
sites feel a bit out of sync. As Simon pointed out, the landing page
is not strictly following the current guidelines, even though we all
clearly recognize the white logo ;-) I think it is time to revisit the
guidelines.

The branding guidelines themselves are still marked as Alpha and have
not been updated in quite some time:
https://github.com/openSUSE/branding-guidelines
https://opensuse.github.io/branding-guidelines/

I had a chance to briefly discuss this last week at SUSECON with
Zvezdana, who originally worked on the branding guidelines, the Alex
logo, and many of our vibrant stickers :-) She really liked the color
palette, the direction, especially the vibrant green, and the idea of
giving the guidelines a fresh, more engaging form.

Separately, I have an upcoming meeting with a student of art I was
introduced to through our Mobile Hackday events in Prague. This brings
in a fresh and creative perspective on how we could present the
guidelines.

I also raised this at today’s board meeting. There were no objections,
but we did not have enough members present to reach a quorum.

My idea is to move away from a static document and turn the guidelines
into something more alive. A small interactive microsite, almost like
a playful comic, where Geeko guides you through the project and how we
use the branding, including where to find and contribute assets.
Something you can scroll through like a colorful kitchen paper roll,
unfolding step by step. Light, a bit funny, but still practical.

At the same time, it should remain useful. Clear navigation, quick
links, and easy access to assets, so people can jump straight to what
they need without scrolling through everything.

The story layer would introduce the palette, logo usage, fonts,
stickers, wallpapers, t-shirts, and visuals progressively as you
scroll, while the structure underneath keeps it functional and easy to
navigate.

I am currently discussing this direction with Tamar G. and exploring
how we could shape it further. She has already been looking into our
Geeko characters in action.

The goal is simple: keep it vibrant, recognizable, and distinctly
ours, not generic. I would also keep the initial scope rather small so
it can be done within six months, ideally in time for the openSUSE
Asia Summit 2026. I plan to organize a small session at oSC2026 as a
continuation of our past branding workshops, so it would be great to
align with that.

Thoughts?
