article, with video: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-31834927 "The Micro Bit will be a small, wearable device with an LED display that children can programme in a number of ways. It will be a standalone, entry-level coding device that allows children to pick it up, plug it into a computer and start creating with it immediately." (Standalone, except for the part where it requires a host computer... which b ythe way could be a Raspberry Pi) Product partners/champions include Microsoft and the Python Software Foundation. The BBC will supply massive audiovisual educational content. They "anticipate working with a wider network of informal partners to magnify the educational impact of the project." Deployment starts this September and when the 1,000,000th is distributed, production will be halted. Sean.
