KDAB Celebrates 10th Anniversary KDAB, the Qt Experts, turns 10 years today. Over the last 10 years, KDAB has grown from a small consultancy to a world-wide supplier of Qt training, Qt expert consultancy services, and Qt addons. Kalle Dalheimer, CEO and founder of KDAB, explains how KDAB developed from a one-man-show to a global team of experts in the Qt space: "KDAB has never seen growth as an absolute value. It has always been our focus to hire the best possible employees instead of hiring many of them. In times when we needed additional help, but could not find candidates that met our very stringent requirements, we worked harder with our existing engineers rather than hiring second-rate ones. If someone works at KDAB, he or she must be an absolute expert in what he does. We also let our most experienced engineers work from home, making KDAB a highly attractive workplace for many world-class Qt software engineers.
KDAB realized early on what a great technology Qt is, and has subsequently concentrated entirely on Qt services, products, and training. Instead of being a "Jack of all trades, master of none," KDAB concentrates on being world class in one technology - Qt." Many KDAB employees have their roots in the KDE team and KDAB also offers professional services around KDE software products, such as the KDE Kontact Groupware Suite of applications. KDAB has agreed to sponsor the 2010 edition of Camp KDE, a conference focusing on KDE technologies in North and South America. In addition to its financial support, KDAB will also send several Qt Experts to San Diego to hold in-depth training sessions based on its popular Qt training course at the conference, free of charge for conference delegates. The new facilities feature nice, airy rooms with modern, high-tech equipment and provide an excellent environment for learning in groups. KDAB's highly-skilled, Nokia-certified trainers transfer their extensive knowledge about all aspects of Qt. The area around the training facilities provides hotels and restaurants. Along with the new training facilities, KDAB also expands its training offerings. In January, KDAB will announce its more comprehensive training program, adding more modular and in-depth courses to the current Qt training courses. We'd like to solicit feedback from our customers on what they would like to see in a Qt training. Tell us which part of Qt you would like to learn more about in a three day, in-depth training course for people already familiar with Qt. Send us your suggestions via email ([email protected]), and we might be able to offer your favorite training course in the near future. The next planned training courses take place in Berlin, Germany in week 4 (this course held is German), in Houston, Texas in week 5 and in Berlin in week 6. The courses in week 5 and 6 are held in English.
