Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the publication of

Taylor, R. L. and M. S. Udevitz. Demography of the Pacific walrus (*Odobenus
rosmarus divergens*): 1974-2006. Marine Mammal Science
DOI: 10.1111/mms.12156.

This study provides the first rigorous estimates of Pacific walrus survival
rates, in addition to updating decades old estimates of reproductive rates
and population growth rates. We obtained these results by developing a
hidden process Bayesian model that described demographic processes from
1974-2006, and combined information from five population size estimates,
six standing age structure estimates, one estimate each of high and low
reproductive rates, and annual age-specific harvest records.
