Dear MARMAM community,

I'm pleased to announce our funded PhD opportunity on harbour porpoises off
western Scotland in the context of marine protected area monitoring and
offshore renewable energy management. This conservation-focussed PhD will
analyse vessel-based visual and towed-acoustic data to examine porpoise
distributions over the last decade, explores how these datasets can be used to
obtain abundance estimates, and investigates how detectability of porpoises
varies under different ambient sound conditions during static acoustic
monitoring.

Deadline: 16th May. Candidates with strong quantitative skills are specifically
encouraged to apply.

applicable.

All the best,
