Hi all, I'm trying to run SPEC2006 on marss86. However, from others' experiences I find that it takes a very long time to finish the benchmark in simulation mode. Now I'm trying to use simpoints to speed up the benchmark.
Following the instruction on page http://marss86.org/~marss86/index.php/Simpoints, I first create the checkpoint with '~/create_checkpoint' and simpoint file with PinPoints. I tried a small program and get only two simpoints (0 and 3), so there should be two new checkpoints in step2. When I run the second step. the first new checkpoint is created quickly. However, the second one seems hard to generate. In my understanding, the second step first generates the first checkpoint since the first simpoint start from instruction 1. And then it executes until it reaches the instruction 30M+1 (my interval is 10M). At this time, the second checkpoint will be generated. Is my understanding right? If so, is there any fast way to generate the second checkpoint? Thanks, Hu Hong
