Interesting -- it sounds like you hit an abort/seg fault/assertion failure. One thing that might be missing is the -dramsim-pwd argument in your simconfig (which should be set to the path of your DRAMSim2 directory and it lets DRAMSim know where to look for the ini/ directory).
Could you set that and see if you get farther. Beyond that, could you compile marss and dramsim with debug flags and run marss through GDB to see where the execution stops?
