Pardon the self-reply. It's amazing what RingTFM can do. But see below. Vega help tells me that non-Havana VEGA genes get IDs like SK:GPR30. Hm. Well, what I really want is to get the gene info (Vega ID, and exons' sequence, while we're at it) for only the Vega gene that I get linked to from the HGNC page for GPR30, http://www.gene.ucl.ac.uk/nomenclature/data/get_data.php?hgnc_id=4485 . That page in turn has a "Vega" link pointing to http://vega.sanger.ac.uk/Homo_sapiens/geneview?gene=GPR30 which takes me to http://vega.sanger.ac.uk/Homo_sapiens/geneview?db=core;gene=OTTHUMG00000 023680 Is there a filter I can put into my XML web service query for this, or do I have to dig into real database stuff? Or do I have to somehow filter after I've downloaded everything? -Amir Karger
