buttonURL is for a type of filter that allows an external panel to be
opened for purposes of value selection (e.g. the Expression filters in
the Ensembl Gene datasets). It's very specific to this set of filters
and not really intended for use elsewhere. However if you would like to
use something similar in your own mart I'm sure we can help you get it
set up.

regexp is for specifying a validating regex to check whether the entered
value is correct or not. The current versions of MartView/MartService
and the APIs do not use this field but may do so in future.
