Dear all,

I'm after some general guidance on how to either customise mart builder or how I use it to refine the way in which datasets are built and wonder if anyone has any advice on the best way forward.

I need to be able to build multiple datasets from a single database (well, multiple datasets from each of multiple databases), using a SQL clause or similar to restrict the scope of the queries used to build each dataset from the original database (in my case, to a subset of genes). I don't see any scope for this in MartBuilder (please correct me if I'm missing something!), but three approaches seem plausible: 1. build a mart with one and then write some SQL to automatically subdivide a dataset into multiple sets by lots of select/insert
2. modify the SQL produced by martbuilder to add some clauses in the selects
3. modify martbuilder to add clauses to the SQL generated based on given criteria.

Does anyone have any advice on the best way for me to proceed? I'm more than happy to get my hands dirty in martj if need be...

Cheers,

Dan.
