Hi,

it might be simpler but I didn't test it, and I don't want to start a big REST 
vs SOAP discussion. But it is quite clear that 
the WSDL/SOAP based approach has it's advantages when it comes to formats being 
well-defined. This is important 
for example for large complex queries, and it is fully formalizing the messages 
which plays an important
role in automatizing interface generation,
service composition into complex work-flows, validation of communication, etc. 
Actually we just thought it was a good idea 
to try using it, because it was published.
