I think it should be emphasized, particularly given the ridiculous
suggestion that the far right is dead or diminished, that fascism has been
a key, though subordinate, element in capitalism since early in this
century. The fascist states were defeated. Fascism lives on. Fascism is
organic to capitalism in these past several phases of development. My
point was that fascism is typical of core capitalist zones, not peripheral
zones, and the equation of third world authoritarianism with fascism is a
categorical error.
