Pass out?--meaning got to get some sleep and can't hold out any longer.

There are a number of important connections between people that drop out of historical awareness. One task of scholarship is to restore those connections. The 1990s were a marvelous decade for historical research and publication in many areas. Lost connections between different peoples and national intellectual traditions have been discovered not only for Douglass, but for Du Bois, Richard Wright, and many others. It's inspiring, but unfortunately the news hasn't trickled down to the average person.
