Repubs like to attack the wrong people
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Fri, 2005-09-30 18:54.
Hello Campers,
Tom Delay indicted for illegal campaign financing, I'll say it again, Tom
Delay indicted. I just like the way it sounds. After years of pushing it to
the ethical edge and at least five admonishments for it, Tom Delay finally
slipped and fell flat on his face. Of course that's not how the Hammer is
telling it.
You know the drill, when accused of something don't defend, attack. Ronnie
Earle; the man prosecuting Delay, is a partisan zealot out to derail a
distinguished career. It couldn't have been Delay's fault. He lives a
special rarefied place called, the GOP no guilt zone. It's a magic place
where all you have to say is, "I'm not guilty" to make it so, whether its
outing a CIA agent, starting an illegal war, handing out no bid contracts,
screwing up disaster relief or illegal, campaign financing. If you say you
didn't do it, you obviously didn't do it. Why? Because you said you didn't
do it, silly.
Of course, the no guilt zone is only open to those who serve under Emperor
George Bush. The good news is, as of this week, thanks to Tom Delay, it's in
the process of being redistricted. I'm Randi Rhodes and I approve this
message.

Tom Delay indicted!!!
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Wed, 2005-09-28 18:18.
Good morning, campers.
So Tom DeLay got indicted, and right out of the gate, he and some of his
allies are attacking the prosecutor. That's the problem with the right wing.
These guys would march in lockstep even if the guy giving the orders . was a
crook.
I mean, think how hard it is to break campaign finance laws in Texas. Just
about the only thing you can't do is get money from corporations. And
DeLay's people worked it out so that . candidates got money from
corporations.

gas-o-holic Bush
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Tue, 2005-09-27 18:23.
Good morning, campers.
So things have gone so contrary to everything George Bush ever believed that
he actually had to ask people to conserve gas.
That's right. The guy who invaded Iraq's oil fields and had his old Press
Secretary Ari Fleischer say you can't ask Americans to cut gas consumption.
Even this gas-o-holic finally had to ask people to power down their SUVs and
put their Jet Skis away. He had to admit we can't always do just any old
thing we want.
And he could hardly say it even now. [STUMBLING OVER IT] ". If they're able
to maybe not drive when they - on a trip that's not essential, that would
helpful." He could barely form the words in his mouth. This is a guy who
doesn't understand what it means to make a real sacrifice.

Here comes the hurricanes
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Fri, 2005-09-23 18:42.
Hello campers,
Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita have exposed how shockingly inept the
Federal govt. can be. When it comes to the Fed, any time is the right time
to tie agencies up in red tape, even if American citizens have to die as a
result. The stories about the Hurricane Katrina screw ups are legend. Did we
learn anything from our mistakes? George Bush did, this time he's getting to
the disaster site early instead of five days too late, to get his photo ops
out of the way before the corpses start rotting.
The actual evacuation plans for Hurricane Rita were of course screwed up as
usual. In the midst of one of the biggest storms on record this govt. kept
people from getting on planes because airport screeners living in the storm
were trying to get out, and didn't show up for work. Other screeners had to
be flown in while thousands of would be passengers sat and watched a level 4
hurricane bear down on them. Talk about a lousy travel day.

Bush off the wagon?
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Fri, 2005-09-23 16:11.
Hello Campers,
Well, there have been rumors about it for months now they're starting to
leak out. George, "I have the nuclear missile codes in my briefcase" Bush
might have fallen off the wagon. I guess that clears up some of his behavior
lately, at least it explains why he keeps falling off his bike. Of course
Bush is one of those alcoholics that has to drink in secret. As a matter of
fact he's one of those Presidents that has to do everything in secret. Of
course George Bush doesn't drink and drive, that would be irresponsible. He
just drinks while he happens to be in charge of the most powerful country in
the world. What could go wrong? Barfing on Putin, challenging Kim Jon Il to
a game of quarters at the APEC Summit.

Sean Hannity lied - again SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Wed, 2005-09-21 17:57.
Good morning, campers.
So Sean Hannity lied - again. As usual, he was trying to blame everything
from Hurricane Katrina on local officials instead of holding his
ultra-rightwing federal government accountable for anything. And he said
"You would have thought that the 2,000 buses, school buses, that sat in the
yards would have been used to help those people that were incapable of
getting out on their own, but none of that had happened locally."
First of all, a small thing: the New Orleans Times-Picayune says the entire
school district only had 324 buses. He was only off by 1,676 - unless you
figure in the 70 buses that are broken, in which case he's only off by
1,746. Then again, it's common sense. There are only around 55,200
school-age kids in the whole Orleans Parish. Your average school bus holds
maybe 70, but 2,000 buses means one bus for every 27 kids. And most of them
apparently don't even need a ride to school anyway.

Cindy Sheehan
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Tue, 2005-08-09 17:22.
Good morning, campers.
You know, we've seen the right wing smear so many people, shouldn't it be
transparent by now? I mean, here's Cindy Sheehan, a woman who lost her son
in Iraq - Specialist Casey Sheehan, killed in a hail of grenades and
small-arms fire in 2004. And she just wants to ask the president what noble
cause her son died for. George Bush says all the time that soldiers are
dying for a noble cause. So what is it?
It's not weapons of mass destruction - which we didn't find, and which
George Bush didn't give weapons inspectors a chance to find . or NOT find.
It wasn't just to remove Saddam Hussein, since America seemed comfortable
doing business with him before. It's not to stop terrorism, since terrorists
weren't there before we invaded - and some of the enemy WEREN'T terrorists
before we invaded. It wasn't to avenge 9/11, since Saddam had nothing to do
with that.

Struggle vs. War
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Thu, 2005-08-04 18:26.
Hello campers,Bush used his veto powers this week on a very important issue.
He overruled some of his top advisers on what to call the Iraq conflict. The
last few weeks Donald Rumsfeld and senior military officials have begun
referring to it as the "global struggle against violent extremism," sounds
impressive right? But the President is a simple man of simple tastes and
simple mind and he wants to continue to refer to our nightmare in Iraq as
"The war on terror" and what George Bush wants George Bush gets. In a speech
recently in Texas, Bush used the phrase "war on terror" five times just to
make his point. Emphasizing, "Make no mistake about it, we are at war!" I
don't think the families of the 2,000 American troops that have died in Iraq
along with untold thousands of Iraqis that have died are going to mistake
our conflict in Iraq as anything but a war. People get killed in wars.

Republicans are still in trouble
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Wed, 2005-08-03 17:11.
Good morning, campers.
So the admitted Bush-clone Republican beat the Iraqi-war-vet Democrat in the
special Congressional election in Ohio Tuesday.
Yeah, it's disappointing, and yeah, I still think they cheated - and we know
for a fact they lied. But you what? Republicans are still in trouble there.
See, this was a heavily Republican district. George Bush won it with 64
percent last year. But Jean Schmidt, the Republican, only squeaked by with a
little less than 52 percent.

Bush's 50 Vacation
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Mon, 2005-08-01 20:43.
Hello campers, Scientists have discovered that your body uses twice as much
energy lying and misleading people. What other explanation could there be
for George Bush taking his 50th vacation trip to Crawford Ranch in 5 years!
He must be exhausted! Or maybe like most criminals, when Bush commits a
crime he has to run to his hideout. Bush's latest crime of arrogance and
stupidity is pushing through John Bolton as UN Ambassador; a man with the
diplomatic skills of a young Andrew Dice Clay. Bolton might be the top arms
control official, he just can't control his big mouth and bigger temper.

Hey, Don't pardon him
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Tue, 2005-07-26 17:15.
Good morning, campers.
Well, here's a new low. A member of Congress actually has to beg the
president not to pardon someone if they're guilty of treason.
I mean, the talking points from Republicans right now is we shouldn't
prejudge Karl Rove before he's charged - even though he admitted through his
lawyer that he helped leak the name of a CIA agent. But OK, set that aside.
This isn't even a matter of prejudging him.
We're just saying "Hey, don't pre-pardon him."

MADE YOU LOOK
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Mon, 2005-07-25 18:45.
Good morning campers,
In George Bush's America we have nothing to fear but to fear ourselves,
especially if we're carrying a backpack. Now that the President's Chief of
Staff and the Vice President himself are involved in the Valerie Plame case,
which involves obstruction of justice, perjury, not to mention undermining
national security, it's time to start the Bush shell game. If John Roberts
didn't distract you, maybe a backpack terror alert will do it.
People are so freaked out in New York right now we're surrounding Double
Decker tourist buses with swat teams, and cavity searching Aunt Millie from
Great Falls because she has a bulging fanny pack! "Here's a slide from our
New York trip. That's me, spread eagle on the ground with a rifle pointed at
my head."

Karl Rove Scandal
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Fri, 2005-07-22 18:40.
Hello Campers,
A hearing was held Friday by Senate and House Democrats to examine the
implications of the Valerie Plame Karl Rove scandal. Why did Democrats hold
the hearings--because the President has refused to hold one himself. The
President is simply unwilling to look into a serious federal crime committed
by one of the highest ranking members of his administration and it's
affecting our national security. Patrick Lang, a retired Army colonel and
defense intelligence officer, said quote: "Bush's silence sends a bad signal
to foreigners who might be thinking of cooperating with the U.S. on
intelligence matters. This says to them that if you decide to cooperate,
someone will give you up, so you don't do it."

He's the Stepford judge. Just don't forget about ROVE
Submitted by Randi Rhodes on Wed, 2005-07-20 17:20.
Good morning, campers.
Well, George W. Bush nominated his choice for the Supreme Court. Or, as I
call him, the Great Distraction. You know, a distraction from Traitor-Gate.
>From Karl Rove blabbing the identity of a CIA agent. That old thing.
Anyway, George has his nominee, his name is John Roberts - and honest to
God, he's adorable. His wife is adorable. His kids are adorable. And he's
written so few opinions that you almost can't pin anything on him.
Seriously, no one knows what he's going to do. He casts no shadow. He
doesn't leave footprints. He's the Stepford judge.
