Class antagonism in The Manifesto/exposition Waistline2 at aol.com
________________________________

"The distinguishing feature of communism is not the abolition of property
generally, but the abolition of bourgeois property. But modern bourgeois
private
property is the final and most complete expression of the system of
producing
and appropriating products that is based on _class antagonisms_
(emphasis added -CB), on the exploitation of the many by the few. "

WL: What then is antagonism?

My answer is a specific form of resolution of contradiction. The history of
the general presentation of the antagonistic form of resolution - in the
context of the history of the Third International and Soviet history,
appears the
1939 edition of the Textbook of Marxist Philosophy, page 172. Antagonism
does
not mean conflict or violence as a philosophic concept.

^^^^^ CB: What is the connection between what you are saying and what Marx
and Engels say above ?

****************************

WL: The issue is not "the connection" but what is the meaning of antagonism
and describing the mode of resolution called antagonism. I will try and
quickly
summarize the meaning of antagonism.

The quote you present does not explain, nor was it the intention of the
authors to explain, the specific movement of antagonism as polarization -
externalization, between and within the primary classes connected to and
existing in
correspondence to a given state of development of the productive forces. Or
on
what basis and when a contradiction between primary classes is replaced by
antagonism.

CB: In other words, here, they don't use "antagonism" in the same way that
you do ?
