CB: Marx and Engels recognized that pre-capitalist societies, such as in
Africa, were communal, and did not have private property. Marx and Engels
announced the goal of the European originated Communist movement to be the
abolition of private property, with the difference from earlier communal
societies being that the higher levels of technical development would be
retained and put to the use of communistically organized society.

I don't think Marx and Engels had an accurate sense of how long the span of
time of existence of primary cultural societies was , nor its majority
proportion of time relative to modern societies with agricultural production
and private property. But they are fully aware, and become more aware as
their intellectual careers go on , of the kin-based society stage of human
history. And they know that kinbased society is communistic, does not have
the institution of private property, or exploiting and exploited classes.
