There is nothing at all new about Republicans
calling Democrats Marxists, pinks and reds.
They have been doing for at least seventy years,
ever since the time of FDR. Richard Milhous Nixon
quite literally built his career on that basis,
as did Reagan and countless other Republicans
ever since. Nobody should be surprised to
see the same tactics being used in this campaign.

CB: Yes, glad Jim reminded of this.

Of course, now , post Cold War and with Communism
dead, more and more young people
have not gone through heavy duty anti-Communist
and anti-Marxist brainwashing. I'm wondering if
bringing Marxism back up now might sort of backfire
on the right-wing. For example, the Kristol type article
might cause some young people to go back and read
the famous quote by Marx on religion, and more than
just the snippet " opium of the people". The whole
thing is kind of impressive. Next thing you know they
will want to read The Manifesto and _Capital_. Does
the right-wing really want to bring up Marxism "again" ?
