Actually, I was not trying to convince anyone of anything. Opinion various
on the Senate bill. Some support it and some do not. By support I mean
active campaigning amongst various health care groups and unions in favor of
the bill. By not supporting the bill is meant the group I am involved with -
"Retirees for Single Payer Health Care," will not be calling our
legislators advocating support for the Senate Bill, or distributing literature
amongst UAW members in support of the Senate bill but will continue to push
for a
Single Payer system as outlined in the UAW Constitutional Convention
resolutions.

In fact we are pushing for the union to do more in winning our own union
members over to the UAW resolution on health care, as we prepare for the
upcoming Convention to be held in Detroit next year. "Retirees for Single
Payer Health Care," meets on Monday's at 1 p.m. at UAW Local 22, located at
4300 Michigan Ave. Next meeting on Jan. 4, 2010. There are other issues being
tackled like the impact of VEBA, which takes root Jan 1, 2010.

My reply to this "interesting article by a Detroit autoworker," was
basically castigating the idea that support for a bill is akin to governing a
country, and the idea that organizing protest is easy.

WL.
