This may be an impertinent question, but what is being debated? PSL & WW supported Qaddafi in the past, as they did Saddam and others demonized by the US, in an almost habitual way - stemming from their peculiar take on Trotsky's 'defensism', ie 'defend the enemy of the enemy'. They do not say 'maybe we were wrong', nor are they likely to. But they don't reiterate it either. They just emphasize the danger of US intervention. On the other hand, ISO never supported Qaddafi, and are saying so loudly. But they don't support intervention either. The international movement debates are taking place in a completely transformed context. Stalinism and social democracy as they took shape in the last century are gone. The real debate is over what is emerging in the vacuum left behind, good and bad, not over who told who so.ey ________________________________________________ Send list submissions to: Marxism@greenhouse.economics.utah.edu Set your options at: http://greenhouse.economics.utah.edu/mailman/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
