Louis Proyect: Upon further reflection, I have decided to unsub Walter Lippmann.
He really needs to find a listserv more amenable to his politics. I don't want
to go through another 6 months of reading his crap before getting fed up.
Suresh: Speaking merely as a lurker, why do you bother continuing this list?
Five, ten years ago I recall free-wheeling debates on here between folks from
all strands of the Marxist tradition, and I don't mean over the tired
Stalin-Trotsky dispute, but over contemporary issues in global politics and
activism.
Now it seems most debates end with someone being banned. In fact, there's
scarcely any debate on here at all. It comes down to Fred Feldman occasionally
taking an instransigant anti-imperialist line and Paula putting her two cents
in
about new imperialist states. With you inevitably chipping in that newcomers
should ignore so-and-so's heterodoxy. What newcomers, though? The original list
that Marxmail grew out of, I understand, was an anarchic mess. Unfortunately,
as
they say, the pendulum has swung too far.
